Cardigan Mountain School A boarding and day school for boys in grades 6 through 9

Fall 2020 Parent Visit Policy & Guidelines

We have developed the following guidelines for limited parent/guardian visits this fall. The following policy asks parents to contact us prior to scheduling a visit to campus and provides guidelines that will allow these visits to be conducted safely. Our goal is to offer opportunity and fairness to all families, including those who prefer campus remain closed at all times for the safety and health of their sons.

Fall 2020 Visitor Policy

Who may visit?

Visitors will be restricted to parents and guardians only. If there are specific circumstances that complicate this request, please contact Director of Student Life Nick Nowak.

Parent statement of health:

Visiting parents must attest that they have not had contact with a COVID-positive individual, be free of COVID-19 symptoms themselves, and have a temperature below 99° F (37.22° C) on the day of their visit. We ask parents/guardians to fill out this form on the day of the scheduled visit.

When can visits take place?

Visits may take place on Saturday evenings from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. At this time, we are not able to schedule visits on weekdays.

Length of visits

Visits may last for up to two hours, and this may be strictly enforced as parents may be scheduled in a manner that limits overcrowding.

Number of visits

Two visits will be allowed between September 19th and November 14th regardless if one or both parents visit. If there are specific circumstances that complicate this request (e.g. divorced/separated families), please reach out to Director of Student Life Nick Nowak.

Visit locations and guidelines

Visits should take place outside, either at the top of Clancy Hill (behind Frieze House) or on Williams Fields. Boys are not allowed in vehicles at any time. During inclement weather, a large indoor venue will be made available. Parents and guardians must wear masks at all times, maintain social distance from all other students and adults, and practice safe hygiene. Parents will not be permitted inside any buildings such as dorms, the Commons, classrooms, etc. Parents must park either down near Williams Field or behind Frieze House and then call the Administrator-on-Duty (AOD) phone (603) 443-6252 when you arrive. If you are unfamiliar with these locations, please consult the campus map.

Athletic events

Parents and guardians may attend scheduled athletic events on Williams Fields (soccer & flag football), our mountain bike trails off of Prospect Hill Road, our cross country running trails behind Frieze House, or on faculty beach behind the Ramos Tennis Courts (sailing) during weekends to watch their sons compete. Multiple visits for athletic events are welcome and will not count toward the two-visit limit. Visitors should maintain social distance from others and masks must be worn at all times. Parents may stay for the duration of the event and for up 30 minutes following the completion of the event, but may not proceed to campus following the event.

Pre-scheduling required

Visits should be scheduled in advance. We are not able to accomodate unplanned or "surprise" visits. Please reach out to Director of Student Life Nick Nowak at to arrange your visit.
