Spring Spelling Bee Challenges Underclassmen

Spelling Bee

With no more class periods on the schedule and the seniors departed from campus, our English Department hosted the final spelling bee of the year for the underclassmen. Held in Humann Theatre, 19 students representing the sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade English classes volunteered for this challenging and entertaining event.

English instructor Ms. Lloyd once again took to the podium as Bee Quizmaster. Judges Mr. Gray H’12,P’14,’16, Mr. Wennik P’15,’16, and Ms. Fedele oversaw the contest, ringing a bell for incorrect spellings and prompting boys to exit the stage with their consolation prize.

The students battled with words that challenged contestants and audience alike, such as “parenthetical,” “incongruous,” and “truculently.” After seven competitive rounds, there were two students left: Wilson Knapp ’21 and Dylan Gorman ’21. After spelling “entrepreneur” correctly, Dylan earned the title of Spring Spelling Bee Champion. Well done, Dylan!
