Cardigan Students Shine in Math, Art, and Robotics Competitions

Cardigan's Robotics Teams

Cardigan students have recently demonstrated outstanding achievements across math, art, and robotics, showcasing their talents and hard work on local and national stages.

Kevin Yang’s exceptional performance in the November AMC 10 (American Mathematics Contest) places him among the nation’s brightest young mathematicians. Out of 159,000 participants, Kevin ranked in the top 2.5%, earning him a coveted spot in the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). This prestigious contest, consisting of 15 challenging questions with a three-hour time limit, will take place on February 6 right here on campus. Congratulations to Kevin for this remarkable accomplishment and good luck at the AIME!

The Cardigan art students also shone brightly in the Scholastic Art Award Competition, where they earned an impressive 44 awards, including gold keys, silver keys, and honorable mentions. These award-winning works will soon be displayed in the Tsui Yee Gallery, offering the community an opportunity to appreciate the creativity and dedication of our talented young artists. Kudos to the Art Department for fostering such artistic excellence!

In the realm of robotics, Cardigan’s three teams—The Syntax Errors, The Coder Cougars, and The Robo Cougars—had an incredible showing at the Belmont VEX V5 Bot Bash. Competing against 49 teams from 13 schools, our students excelled in the Skills Challenges, with the Robo Cougars, led by co-captains Carlos Xie and Owen Xu, earning a spot at the State Regional Championships. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as it marks the inaugural year of the Cardigan Gates Robotics program. Watch video highlights from the competition

These accomplishments reflect the dedication and talent of Cardigan Mountain School’s students and faculty, and we are proud to celebrate their success. Well done, everyone!
