Congratulations to Isaiah Stone ’25 and Liam Tith ’27 for earning Cardigan’s Student-Athlete of the Week Awards. Read what their coaches have to say about them below, and meet all the students who were nominated.
Varsity Student-Athlete of the Week
Isaiah Stone ’25 - Varsity Football
As a new football player, Isaiah has quickly become a vital member of our team and exemplifies exceptional talent and determination. As the starting right guard and middle linebacker, he continuously demonstrates his commitment to improvement by asking questions about the game. His hard work has paid off, as he ranks among the leading tacklers this season with 15 solo tackles, along with several group tackles. His impressive physical attributes make him stand out on the field; he is one of the biggest and fastest players, which creates a challenge for our opponents. His ability to dominate play and take over the game is a rare quality for someone in his position. Known as a “game wrecker,” Isaiah consistently changes the dynamics of the game in our favor, showcasing a talent that goes beyond typical lineman capabilities.
Sub-Varsity Student-Athlete of the Week
Liam Tith ’27 - JV Football
Liam has worked hard all season as quarterback and recently came back from an injury to lead the offense in a 22-0 win over Claremont in the last game of the season.
Other Varsity Nominations
Martin Eerola ’25 - Varsity Soccer
The Varsity Soccer Team has chosen Martin Eerola as its Athlete of the Week. Martin is an imposing figure on the field and plays as big and as strong as he appears. He has very good touch in tight spots and has great speed with the ball and without. He is a natural goal scorer, unafraid to play with either foot, and loves to barrel to the goal when given the opportunity. What the team most enjoys about having him as a teammate is his positive approach to practices and games and his willingness to give his all in both venues; his teammates count on his determination to improve and feed off of his energy in every practice. Martin has continued to develop his play, learning to make more dynamic runs in behind the opposition and checking back and holding the ball until our forwards can catch up to the play. These skills have come into play wonderfully, as he had a goal and an assist in the most recent match with Belmont High School.
Leo Song ’26 - Varsity Cross Country
Leo has had a great season on the Varsity Cross Country Team. He has an excellent attitude and always gives 100% effort. He has been supportive of his teammates and is consistent with his training. He has also shown improvements in his speed, endurance, and strength throughout the season. Well done, Leo!
Simon Manners ’25 - Varsity Mountain Biking
Captain Simon Manners concluded his four-year Varsity Mountain Biking career with a podium at the NNEMTB Championships. Simon was recognized during the awards ceremony for finishing second overall for ninth graders in the season-long NNEMTB series!
Other Sub-Varsity Nominations
Charlie Costello ’26 - CORE
Charlie Costello is this week’s Student Athlete of the Week for CORE. Charlie received this award at the beginning of the season, but he deserves to receive it a second time. He is one of our co-captains and has shown tremendous growth as a leader. We cooked nachos in a Dutch oven at the end of the week, and he was awesome at organizing and directing the meal. Keep up the good work, Charlie.
Lorenzo Torres ’26 - JV Mountain Biking
Our team nominates Lorenzo Torres for Student Athlete of the Week. He continuously works hard to improve his conditioning, while bringing humor and a great attitude to practice every day. He is good company, and I think the whole team has benefited from his presence. Thank you, Lorenzo!
Will Tindall ’25 - Rowing
Will always jumps at the chance to row the single, and he has made the most of the opportunity. He is working hard to get better and he is one of the only rowers I trust to be in the single by himself due to his skill, his focus, and his maturity.
Jayden Wang ’26 - Fourths Soccer
Our team nominates Jayden Wang to be the Student-Athlete of the Week. Jayden is a dynamic player who pushes himself daily, showing exceptional dedication and skill. He consistently holds down the line as both a goalie and a defender, keeping the opposing team at bay. His positive attitude and natural leadership inspire his peers, and he demonstrates an impressive ability to take feedback and immediately apply it to improve his game. His commitment and hard work have made him an invaluable asset to the team. Great job, Jayden!
Bob Zou ’27 - Reserve Soccer
This week’s Student Athlete of the Week for our team is Bob Zou. He has improved so much this year and has a tremendous attitude when it comes to doing his best on the field.
