Congratulations to Colton Boorda ’25 and Justin Wang ’27 for earning Cardigan’s Student-Athlete of the Week Awards. Read what their coaches have to say about them below, and meet all the students who were nominated.
Varsity Student-Athlete of the Week
Colton Boorda ’25 - Varsity Basketball
Colton has been a big part of the defense all year. He does a lot of things that aren’t reflected in the scorebook, such as steals, deflections, and helping his fellow teammates.
Sub Varsity Student-Athlete of the Week
Justin Wang ’27 - Reserve Basketball
Justin played a phenomenal game against Lyme on Friday. He was the ultimate playmaker––driving to the hoop, drawing defenders, dishing the ball to teammates, and playing competitive defense. He was a strong contributor on both sides of the court and led Cardigan to a commanding victory.

Matty Bowolick ’25 - Varsity Hockey
Matty had an outstanding weekend in Connecticut. He scored a huge goal against Avon and helped his team dominate in the offensive zone all weekend. His play has improved a great deal as the season has progressed, and he is helping lead the way through his play, attitude, and work ethic.
Carlos Xie ’26 - Varsity Nordic Skiing
Carlos has had a great week of skiing. He has been a positive, encouraging teammate and has improved his skills, putting in full effort every day. Our two practices at Holderness School challenged him, and he rose to the occasion and pushed his limits. Well done, Carlos!
Jackson Vikse ’27 - Varsity Alpine Skiing
Jackson is our Athlete of the Week because he recently returned to the snow after a rehab stint for a leg injury sustained in November. He trained aggressively in the stark cold at Sunapee this week and then popped a sixth-place finish in the US Ski and Snowboard Gus Pitou Memorial GS held at Gunstock.
Jason Wu ’27 - Varsity Snowboarding
With the proper opening of the parks at Ragged Mountain, our riders have had the chance to apply themselves and try out new challenges. Jason has embodied the courageous attitude of a Cardigan student-athlete, jumping in on new features and inspiring his fellow riders to push themselves outside their comfort zones.

George Fein ’28 - Recreational Skiing and Snowboarding
George is an outstanding candidate for Athlete of the Week due to his progress and enthusiasm on the slopes. Having graduated from lessons, he is now skiing independently, a testament to his hard work and dedication. Each practice, he embraces the opportunity to try new techniques, pushing himself to improve while maintaining a positive and adventurous attitude. His readiness to tackle challenges and his commitment to having fun make him a role model for his peers and a shining example of what it means to enjoy the journey of athletic growth.
Miles Moschetti ’26 - JV Hockey
Miles has been a reliable defenseman for the JV Hockey Team this season. He is poised with the puck and makes smart decisions. He is not afraid to get involved offensively, and in our most recent game, he ended up scoring the overtime winner with a great shot from the point. Most importantly, he always has a great attitude and is an awesome teammate.
Will Gardner ’25 - Thirds Hockey
Congratulations to Will for being our Athlete of the Week! He had a standout weekend, making his presence known on the ice. His key goal on Saturday was crucial to the team’s success, and he continues to demonstrate exceptional leadership both on and off the rink. He has been a strong and consistent force for the team, giving his all in every game, especially during our intense “Battle Tuesday” sessions. His all-out effort and determination are commendable, and his leadership sets a great example for his teammates. Keep up the fantastic work, Will!
Rio Burnett ’25 - JV Basketball
Over the last two weeks of the season, Rio has worked his way into the starting lineup and is continuing to push his teammates forward with his consistent effort. He put in a full game last week against Hanover Rec when many of his teammates only put in a half; he hustled on defense from start to finish and added some crucial points as well. Rio’s effort on both offense and defense were vital during our comeback and ultimately led to a somewhat easy win.
Brady Drury ’25 - Thirds Basketball
Brady demonstrated relentless effort on the boards during our tough loss against Lyme on Wednesday. His tenacity and commitment to the team set a great example for his peers.
