Congratulations to Colton Boorda ’25 and Stevie Wales ’25 for receiving Cardigan’s Student-Athlete of the Week Awards. Read what their coaches have to say about them below, and meet all the students who were nominated.
Varsity Student-Athlete of the Week
Colton Boorda ’25 - Varsity Basketball
Colton has been an important cog in the pressing defense all season. He is the sixth man to come off the bench and adds speed and depth to our defense. In our last game of the season against New Hampton, he had at least 6-8 tips leading to steals in each half.
Sub-Varsity Student-Athlete of the Week
Stevie Wales ’25 - JV Hockey
Stevie has worked hard all year to improve as a hockey player. Every practice, team function, and game, he has had a smile on his face and has been ready to work for his team. On our final day of the season, his diligent effort finally paid off when he scored his first goal as a Cougar by ripping a shot past the outstretched goalie. Stevie’s teammates were so excited for him; they know how much he has sacrificed for them, and they were happy to see him rewarded.

Ben Lewis ’25 - Varsity Nordic Skiing
Ben has been an exceptional captain this season, leading by example––always with a positive attitude––and willing to lend a hand to others. He had one of his best results this past week at the NEPSAC champs, scoring the most points for his team in the classic individual race and as the fastest leg of his relay team. Well done, Ben!
Connor Sullivan ’25 - Varsity Alpine Skiing
Connor is energy-filled and positive at practice. He showed maturity and focus at the final Western Division U14 Qualifier, a GS race held at the Dartmouth Skiway. He produced his fastest run of the series and after a day’s racing, he qualified for the NHARA U14 Championships to be held in two weeks. The coaches are impressed with Connor’s fortitude and determination.
Ben Ogarrio ’23 - Varsity Wrestling
Ben has been a leader in the wrestling room for the entire season. He quietly puts in the work and is an excellent training partner and competitor. He finished the season with a 14-6 record and was the New England Jr. Prep Champion in his weight class.

Other Sub-Varsity Nominations
Hugo Li ’27 - Reserve Hockey
Hugo has been a quiet force on the reserve squad, showing great dedication to learning how to skate properly. He is a supportive teammate who treats everyone with kindness and respect. Most recently in our game against Tilton, he showed his hunger for the puck and was not afraid to get into a play with players twice his size. The Cardigan hockey program looks forward to having Hugo continue to grow as a hockey player here in the coming years.
Ares Zhu ’25 - Thirds Basketball
Ares has shown good effort and great improvement over the season, culminating in some clean layups in recent games.
Yujin Minemura ’25 - Reserve Basketball
Yujin has exemplified exceptional effort, determination, passion, and a never-give-up attitude on the court. He has a relentless drive on defense––diving for loose balls, putting in extra effort during practices, and displaying leadership qualities that positively impact the team’s morale. Yujin has unleashed his supersonic speed in the last few games, getting many fast-break opportunities and stopping offensive drives by hustling back with an impressive stride.
Wenbin Tang ’24 - Thirds Hockey
BinBin is our steady defender on whom we can count to play a strong defense and to make sure that our “house” is fortified. He has been applying some strong stick play and his speed makes him a very hard player to get around. Lastly and most importantly, he is a great teammate; players love to be around him, on and off the ice. For these reasons BinBin deserves to be our Student-Athlete of the Week.
Jayden Oh ’24 - JV Basketball
Jayden finished the season well with strong performances in our last few games. He was an important member of our team all season and contributed greatly to many of our wins.
