Athletes of the Week for April 5, 2026

Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to Robby Anderson ’26 and Colton MacDonald ’26 for earning Cardigan’s Student-Athlete of the Week Awards. Read what their coaches have to say about them below, and meet all the students who were nominated.

Varsity Student-Athlete of the Week

Robby Anderson ’26 - Varsity Lacrosse

Robby has had a great spring season so far, both on and off the field. He has been a strong leader, helping younger or less-experienced players learn the nuances of the game. He has also been positive during games and practices, giving encouragement and support to his teammates. Additionally, during games he has been on fire, scoring 13 total goals during our first three games. Robby’s hard work has helped set the tone for a great season ahead, and this is why he is our Student-Athlete of the Week.

Sub-Varsity Student-Athlete of the Week

Colton MacDonald ’26 - JV Lacrosse

Colton is slotting in as a leader on our team. He uses his speed to spearhead our transition and offense. He never takes a drill off and is not afraid to get physical. When he gets knocked down, he gets back up stronger. We look forward to seeing him perform during our home game debut on Monday.

Other Varsity Nominations

Jiho Park ’26 - Varsity Tennis

Jiho returned from spring break ready to compete and set a strong example for his teammates. He made the most of tryout week by getting his body back into form and working on his game every day. Then during his first match, he faced an older opponent from Deerfield as the number one seed and stepped onto the court with determination and an exceptional game plan, relying on strong serves and consistent baseline strokes. This is his third year on the team, and we are extremely happy to watch him play for a few more months before he heads off to secondary school.

Quinn Carbone ’26 - Varsity Baseball

Quinn had a great weekend in Connecticut and has been consistently hitting the ball hard since the beginning of the season. He has played well in the outfield and has been improving his work on the mound, all while maintaining an excellent attitude.

Other Sub-Varsity Nominations

Terry Lang ’28 - Fourths Tennis

In the first few weeks of the season, Terry has been highly engaged, positive, and coachable.  He has made a great start to the spring season.

Allen Zhang ’26 - Thirds Tennis

Allen is a great leader on the court and is a skilled player who is eager to keep improving. The coaches appreciate the effort he puts into the game. Keep up the great work, Allen!

Liam Choi ’26 - Reserve Tennis

Liam has a wonderfully positive attitude and always brings great effort to the court. He volunteers to lead warm-up drills and is willing to partner with any of his teammates in doubles matches. He leads the team confidently and always has a compliment for a fellow player.

Jackson Gandin ’29 - Thirds Baseball

Jackson is a standout choice for Student-Athlete of the Week, bringing experience, leadership, and dedication to the team. As a seasoned player stepping into the crucial role of catcher, he has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, improving each practice through focus and determination. His commitment to developing his skills not only elevates his own performance but also strengthens the team as a whole. Jackson’s positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to put in the extra effort make him an invaluable asset, and we are excited to have him leading from behind the plate this season.

Lenni Pieksemä ’26 - JV Tennis

Lenni has been the most consistent player on our team this week, missing only a handful of shots and winning his first singles match against St Paul’s.

Seth Broderick ’27 - JV Baseball

Seth did an awesome job in week one of our season. On multiple occasions, he volunteered to step forward and catch bullpens even though he hadn’t had much experience catching before. He did a great job and had a great attitude the whole time. We look forward to watching him continue to develop over the course of the season!
