“The most significant changes in the secondary school admission landscape are over-enrollment and rises in applications,” says Director of Secondary School Counseling Kris Langetieg P’24. “Last year’s pool of applicants said yes in record numbers and that resulted in over-enrollment at many schools. And this year applicant numbers were up as well. More and more schools are admitting under 10-20 percent of their applicants.”
Despite the competitive applicant pool, Cardigan boys have been accepted and are committing to a number of impressive schools. While there are still a few students who are undecided, the Cardigan Class of 2022 has committed to 39 schools in 10 states and one Canadian province. Topping the list are Avon Old Farms School (5), Kimball Union Academy (4), and St. Paul’s School (4). Brooks School, Kent School, Mercersburg Academy, Middlesex School, Proctor Academy, and St. Mark’s School were also strong contenders with three Cardigan students joining each school in the fall.
