Cardigan Mountain School A boarding and day school for boys in grades 6 through 9

The Plan for Responsibly Opening Campus

The challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic this past spring forced Cardigan Mountain School to make immediate and significant changes to its program and approach to learning in support of student and community safety. While on-campus, in-person learning is our preferred method for teaching, we appreciate how well our community responded to meet our goals for learning, culture, and community. We feel confident in our ability to apply this same energy to the challenges ahead this fall and into the 2020-2021 academic year.

The following plan reflects the current work of our Emergency Response Team and is informed by industry working groups, feedback and guidance from federal and state sources, collaboration with other independent schools, and direct consultation with medical experts.

Our planning has been and will continue to be iterative given the changing circumstances locally, nationally, and globally; our emerging understanding of the virus and how it is transmitted; and constantly updated guidance, knowledge, and resources. That said, our plan will remain anchored in a commitment to our community’s health and safety, even as we seek to find an appropriate balance in fulfilling our mission and program goals
