And you won’t be able to hear their voices, the joy and excitement of victory and accomplishment, the hard conversations filled with growth and learning, the ordinary moments captured in friendly greetings. I hope, however, as you flip through the pages, you will use your imagination to complete the pictures and join me in the simple pleasure of being a part of a school that is open and thriving, despite a pandemic.”

Girls at Cardigan? Not during the traditional academic year. But during Cardigan’s Summer Session, since 1969, girls have been learning and growing right alongside the boys. For many of them, the School has been a catalyst for success—for self-confidence, self-advocacy, and self-awareness.

Malcolm Boyd

Cardigan’s mission makes preparing its students for “responsible and meaningful lives in a global society” the School’s primary focus. As part of that effort, last January Cardigan’s administrative team made diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) a priority at all levels. Alumni Board member Malcolm Boyd ’03 saw an opportunity to involve alumni in the effort as well.
