Under the gray skies of Wolfeboro, the intrepid Cardigan Cougars sailed out of safe harbor from Brewster's blue lagoon, taking to the inner waters of Winnepesauke in the same fashion that Martin Frobisher sought the Northwest Passage. Despite some much-improved sailing from our last home regatta, the Carroll County fates were not on the Cougars side today; however, the Cougars made it to the podium in several races with some third-place finishes. As Neptune's breath stirred the idyllic waters to start the regatta, the races concluded with relative calm. Gentlemanly camaraderie was present throughout the foregoing, and everyone agreed that we would like to visit each other in the autumn of 2020.

On a golden afternoon on Canaan Street Lake, the Bobcats of Brewster took to the still waters with the courageous Cardigan Cougars for the first regatta of the season. To say that the wind conditions bore scant fruit would be an understatement as both teams suffered largely from the lack of gusts that the Upper Valley fates occasionally blow our way. Nevertheless, spectators on The Point were afforded a full array of fine sailing, all while a true spirit of nautical camaraderie was ever at the fore amongst the two teams. In the end, the Bobcats bested the Cougars, but the Cougars look forward to taking on Brewster again on Lake Winnipesaukee in the coming weeks. While it was not Cardigan's day on Canaan Street Lake, it certainly was not as dramatic as the Tsar's fleet going down in the Tsushima Straits. The sailors will prepare assiduously for our rematch. A special thank you to all of the parents and spectators who came to cheer us on.
