Championship Race

On a perfect New England day, the Cardigan JV Mountain Bike Squad attended the Northern New England Mountain Bike Championship in Franklin, NH, at a classic venue at the falls. The course was over 6 miles, the longest course of the year. Over 100 racers competed in the C class. Will Beck ‘21 was the top finisher for the JV squad in 41st. Mark Anstiss ‘21 was only a few spots back and finished 44th. Mike Lee ‘20 and Eric Lim ‘20 were the next Cougars to finish in 54th and 56th, respectively. What a great way to end a season!

On Wednesday, the Cardigan JV Mountain Bike Team was able to host a home race. With over 100 boys riding in the C division, Evan Brondel ‘22 was the leader for JV. He finished 16th, followed by Eric Lim ‘20 and Will Beck ‘21 in 25th and 26th, respectively. Thank you to all the parents that made it out to support the boys and thank you to the volunteers for making the event a success. The JV squad will finish its season on Saturday, November 2nd at Franklin Falls for the Championship.

Win

The Cardigan JV Mountain Bike Team had a strong performance against Eaglebrook on Saturday for their first home race of the season. JV Cougar riders raced one full lap on the challenging B loop before ascending the technical climb to complete a second lap on the C loop. Team captain Wilson Knapp ‘21 and Evan Brondel ‘22 placed 1st and 2nd, respectively. Mark Anstiss ‘21 had his first podium finish of the season, placing 3rd. The Cougars displayed sportsmanship and camaraderie by inviting the Eaglebrook team to get more riding in post-race. Well done, boys!
