Recent Game Recaps

Loss 0-5

The Cardigan Thirds Baseball Team set a record that may never be broken when they dropped a tough game to Eaglebrook. The Cougars played all 27 members of the team in a six inning game including using all 6 pitchers on the team. The Cougars had a goal to include everyone even if that meant only a couple of innings on the field for each player and, in doing so, played more players in a single game than has ever been done before. Despite dropping the game by a score of 5-0, the Cougars walked off the field knowing they played as a team and felt a tremendous sense of pride in the manner in which they chose to compete.

Dresden B
Loss 12-19

Cardigan Thirds baseball traveled to Enfield to play Dresden B and see how much they had progressed since earlier in the season. Once again the Cougars started a little slow and gave up multiple runs in the first two innings. Owen Reilly '20 came out in relief and was superb on the mound. Albert Park '22 showed some promise with two solid hits as well as Taewon Moon '19 who hit the ball well. The Cougars tried to make it a close game, but too little too late. The Cougars are consistently improving and it is fun to witness their development. Keep up the good work!

Hartford Middle School
Loss 9-15

Cardigan Thirds baseball returned the favor to Hartford Middle School and hosted them on a beautiful late Friday afternoon. The Cougars showed significant improvement throughout the game, making a couple of nice fielding plays led by Finn Schmidt ‘19.

On offense, the Cougars had 7 hits: Schmidt went 2 for 2, Deegan Blasko ‘20 1 for 1, and James Kwon ‘19 3 for 3. The Cougars tried a late rally in the last inning but came up short. Despite the loss, the Cougars are showing tremendous growth on the field.

Hartford Middle School
Loss 5-16

The Cardigan Thirds Baseball Team showed their improvement despite coming up on the short end of a 16-5 score against Hartford. Ten different players reached bases led by Owen Reilly's ‘20 two hits and a run scored. Caden Perkins ‘19 and Tommy Li ‘20 each reached bases twice and scored. Kevin Wang ‘20 had a hit, scored a run and played excellent defense behind the plate. Sam Wang ‘20 scored his first run of the season with some heads-up baserunning. He stole second and third base and then scored on a passed ball. The Cougars look to continue their improvement with three games in four days over the weekend.
