Cardigan Featured in Archie Comic Strip

Archie comic artist Bob Montana was a Cardigan parent, with sons in the classes of 1970 and 1976. In one of his comic strips, Montana presented a Nordic skiing competition that took place on the Cardigan campus. In the strip’s last two panels, Montana pictured Dana Blunt '76 (son of faculty member Don Blunt) as a skier sporting a CMS jersey. 

This particular comic strip was especially poignant, as it was published posthumously: in January 1975 Montana had passed away from a heart attack while skiing near his home in Meredith, New Hampshire. The comic strip was carried on by Dan DeCarlo, and its characters would live on in many forms (most recently as characters on the television show Riverdale).
