We know middle school boys.
Cardigan Mountain School is a boarding and day school for boys in grades 6 through 9. At Cardigan, we understand and appreciate boys at this great age and stage of development. We’ve created an environment designed to nurture not only their academic achievement, but also their physical, social, ethical, and personal growth. Everything here—from teaching and learning to arts, sports, and fun—is geared toward helping boys reach their potential. We offer boys just the right amounts of structure and independence, challenge and support, and a focus on both individual growth and a strong, positive sense of community. This time-tested, comprehensive approach to the education of boys is what we call the Cardigan Way.
Active & Experiential Learning
Boys that are doing are boys that are learning, and Cardigan boys do a lot every day. Our curriculum engages the boys to work with their hands, as part of a team, or in conjunction with their other classes to learn how to solve problems.
Engagement of the whole boy
The Cardigan Way is not just an academic curriculum. Every boy participates in athletics, the arts, ethical and spiritual development, service, and leadership activities. Each boy has a chance to enjoy a variety of experiences, become more well-rounded, and to shine in areas of strength.
A community that cares
We show boys that we value what is important to them. Boys thrive at Cardigan because they feel a sense of fellowship and belonging as they work and play together under the supervision of adults who understand and appreciate them.
